Since childhood, V<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ra was fond of drawing, playing the piano, and choreography. At first she didn\u2019t like embroidery at all, but over the years the girl fell more and more in love with this art.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">V<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ra successfully worked in the Lubny artel of embroiderers, where she began to creatively rethink folk patterns and compose original works from traditional elements. They immediately began to be highlighted at exhibitions in which the young craftswoman participated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The basis of the craftswoman\u2019s creativity was a geometric pattern using a wide variety of embroidery techniques &#8211; cross, tightening, tro<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>anka, l<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>akhovka, underlining, buckwheat, column. The craftswoman took the subjects for her works from the surrounding reality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Even her right hand, damaged during the war, did not become an obstacle &#8211; V<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ra learned to embroider with her left hand.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/big-img_3324.jpg\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/big-img_3350.jpg\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/big-img_3304.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/big-img_3302.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">On the advice of doctors, V<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ra Ro<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>ik and her family moved to Crimea in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"1952\">1952<\/span>. To warm sunny Simferopol, where she really felt better. She got a job as a methodologist of decorative and applied arts at the House of Folk Art, also organized embroidery clubs in high schools, opened artistic embroidery courses at the Teacher\u2019s House, and did embroidery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The great merit of V<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ra Ro<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>ik is that she was the first in the Soviet period to begin to promote Ukrainian folk embroidery, national culture and art on the sunny Crimean peninsula. To achieve this, the woman brought to life an almost fantastic idea &#8211; she created a mobile painting salon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">V<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ra Ro<span lang=\"EN-US\">yik<\/span>\u00a0considers one of the most exciting moments in her creative activity\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">the moment<\/span>\u00a0when she heard that she had been awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">For more than half a century, V<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ra\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">Royik<\/span>\u00a0lived in Crimea and throughout all these years she tried to develop Ukrainian arts and crafts there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">On October 3,\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2010\">2010<\/span>, at about 4 p.m., her heart stopped. She was buried in Simferopol.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The work of V<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ra Sergeevna Ro<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>ik has received well-deserved recognition in different countries of the world. Museums in Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Canada, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, Turkey, France, Croatia, Hungary and others have her works.
