{"id":239272,"date":"2023-08-18T19:44:27","date_gmt":"2023-08-18T16:44:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.orgrepresentatives-of-the-crimean-tatar-people-met-with-lithuanian-tatars"},"modified":"2023-08-18T19:44:27","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T16:44:27","slug":"representatives-of-the-crimean-tatar-people-met-with-lithuanian-tatars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ctrcenter.org\/en\/representatives-of-the-crimean-tatar-people-met-with-lithuanian-tatars","title":{"rendered":"Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people met with Lithuanian Tatars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"xfmc2\">On Friday, August 18, an online meeting of representatives of the Crimean Tatar people and Lithuanian Tatars took place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The meeting was attended by Director of the Department of National Minorities of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, Doctor of Philosophy Vida Montvidaite, Deputy of the Lithuanian Seimas Dalia Asanaviciute, Chairman of the Union of Tatar Communities of Lithuania Motiejus Jakubauskas, member of the Advisory Council on De-occupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Adas Jakubauskas, as well as representatives of the\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">S<\/span>E<span lang=\"EN-US\">FC<\/span>\u00a0and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In addition, the meeting was joined by the\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">Head<\/span>\u00a0of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bari<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev, the C<span lang=\"EN-US\">T<\/span>RC manager L<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>udm<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>la Korotk<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>kh and the C<span lang=\"EN-US\">T<\/span>RC communications manager T<span lang=\"EN-US\">e<\/span>t<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ana Savchuk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The C<span lang=\"EN-US\">T<\/span>RC team demonstrated information and visual products in English that were prepared for the International Day of the World&#8217;s Indigenous Peoples: a video, infographics and posters.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/photo_5402335463093689668_y.jpg\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/photo_5402335463093689667_y.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u201cWe are trying to systematically conduct such information campaigns dedicated to the issues of indigenous peoples, because we see that even the Ukrainian society is not fully aware of this issue. Someone does not know the difference between indigenous peoples and national minorities, and many Ukrainians cannot understand why the indigenous people of Ukraine are not Ukrainians. Therefore, it is very important to continue working in this direction\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\">,-<\/span>\u00a0said Eskender Bar<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>iev.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The expert stressed that the adoption of the Law of Ukraine On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine is an important step. Thanks to this law, Ukraine has already clearly settled the question: who is the indigenous people of Ukraine and the definition is legally fixed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u201cAn indicator of the effectiveness of the Law of Ukraine On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine is the hysterical reaction of Russian President Vladimir Putin\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\">,-<\/span>\u00a0he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Eskender Bar<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>iev stressed that the adoption of the law is not the final result. It is very important to make this law work.
