The National Commission for State Language Standards proposed to change the names of settlements in the temporarily occupied Crimea. In total, a list of 255 titles was determined.<\/p>\n

This is stated in the decision No. 231 of the National Commission for State Language Standards.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThe National Commission for the Standards of the State Language at the meeting decided to approve the List of villages, towns, cities whose names do not meet the standards of the state language and recommendations for bringing the names of such villages, towns, cities in line with the standards of the state language in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea according to the annex\u201d,–<\/span>\u00a0the document says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to the annex, the commission identified 225 settlements in Crimea for name changes. In particular, it is called to change 185 names of villages, towns, cities that relate to Russian imperial policy.<\/p>\n

We remind you<\/span>\u00a0that the Crimean Tatar Resource Center has launched and is actively promoting the information and advocacy campaign Return the names – return Crimea, aimed at de-Russification, decolonization of Crimea and the restoration of historical toponymy on the peninsula.<\/p>\n

In particular, the\u00a0CT<\/span>RC team sent a letter to the Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for the Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and the\u00a0Head<\/span>\u00a0of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC\u00a0Ye<\/span>vh<\/span>en Li<\/span>ashchenko with a request to contribute to the renaming of railway stations in Crimea, as well as to the State Agency for Water Resources Ukraine and the State Agency for Land Reclamation and Water Resources of Ukraine with a request to promote the renaming of reservoirs in the Crimea.
