K<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>iv toponymy should forever get rid of names associated with Russia and its totalitarian regime. In our city, it is necessary to rename all the streets, lanes, avenues, squares, parks, squares and municipal institutions, the names of which are associated with the aggressor country, which is waging a full-scale war on the territory of Ukraine. This decision will help reduce the propaganda distortion of history, as well as the perpetuation of Ukrainian heroes, famous figures and significant events\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\">,-<\/span>\u00a0said Deputy Mayor, Secretary of the Kyiv City Council Volodymyr Bondarenko.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Among the new possible options are names associated with the Crimea. For example:<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">&#8211; the Square of Labor Glory in the Darnytskyi district is proposed to be renamed into the<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0Pavlo Horianskyy<\/span>\u00a0square (founder and chairman of the Yalta Community of Ukrainians);<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 Tarashchanets park can become Kha<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>tarma park;<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">&#8211; Spartakovska &#8211; Bakhchysar<span lang=\"EN-US\">ai<\/span>\u00a0street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The Crimean Tatar Resource Center calls on the people of K<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>iv and guests of the capital to join this initiative and vote for these options in the Kyiv Digital application.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Voting will last until April 16,\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">We remind you<\/span>\u00a0that the Crimean Tatar Resource Center has launched and is actively promoting the information and advocacy campaign Return the names &#8211;\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">R<\/span>eturn Crimea, aimed at de-Russification, decolonization of Crimea and the restoration of historical toponymy on the peninsula.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Kyiv City Council is gathering proposals to rename 27 more streets, lanes, avenues, parks and squares whose names are associated with Russia and its satellites. \u201cThis year, together with the people of Kyiv, we continue the process of de-Russification and decolonization of urban facilities.
