According to the organization, during the reporting period, Russian security forces conducted 21 searches, 61 detentions\/detentions, and 64 interrogations, interviews, and conversations. The total number of arrests for the first quarter of\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>\u00a0is 83. Most of the violations by the occupiers fall on representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people. This practice has become systemic in the peninsula.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The press conference was attended by the\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">Head<\/span>\u00a0of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, the head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev, the communications manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Tetiana Podvorniak, lawyer Volodymyr Liashenko of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In the first quarter of\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>, 21 searches were recorded, 19 in the homes of Crimean Tatars. For the same period in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2022\">2022<\/span>, 10 searches were recorded, and in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2021\">2021<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; 22. A number of recorded arrests were made after the searches. Residents of Crimea were detained on suspicion of involvement in the organizations banned in the Russian Federation, Hizb ut-Tahrir, Jehovah&#8217;s Witnesses, for evading conscription into the armed forces of the Russian Federation, for justifying terrorism in social networks, assisting terrorism, for government treason<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201d,-<\/span>\u00a0said Eskender Bariiev.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/52814461509_88fedbf79d_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In the first quarter of\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>, 83 cases of arrests were recorded, of which 54 were against representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u201cOut of 83 cases, 17 are new arrests, 17 are sentences, 1 is a posthumous sentence, 33 are administrative arrests, 15 are extensions of detention\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\">,-<\/span>\u00a0explained Tetiana Podvorniak.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/52814264601_26b56fc930_c.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The speakers paid special attention to the fact that two political prisoners, Dzhemil Gafarov and Kost<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ant<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>n Sh<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>r<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>n<span lang=\"EN-US\">h<\/span>, died due to the failure to provide proper medical care in Russian places of detention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The report of the CTRC, which is available on the website of the organization, also contains information about interrogations, violations of environmental standards on the peninsula, about inadequate conditions in pre-trial detention centers and prisons, about violations of the rights of political prisoners, and illegal military exercises in the occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2-4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In addition, based on the realities of today, the CTRC began to record human rights violations in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">So, as Tetiana Podvorniak, Communications Manager of the CTRC, noted, in the first quarter of\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>, we recorded at least 22 cases of detention, 5 arrests of representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people, at least 4 searches, as well as 134 cases of murders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In the report, we drew attention to such cases as: interrogations and torture, illegal appointment of the occupation authorities, deportation of children and propaganda, violation of the right to peaceful assembly and identified other offenses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Volodymyr Liashenko emphasized the importance of the international community&#8217;s response to the crimes of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u201cThe violation of human rights in the temporarily occupied territories continues to be a massive and systemic phenomenon: the occupiers neglect the norms of international law on the treatment of the civilian population.
