Previously, we talked about three waves of destruction of ethnic toponyms, but the most massive, of course, was the wave of renaming in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"1944\">1944<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; early 60s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Yes, it was then that the Soviet Union renamed\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"1444\">1444<\/span>\u00a0settlements in the Crimea, and there was also an attempt to rename geographical names. This wave of renaming became the most massive and destructive for the Crimean toponymy. It all started with the illegal deportation of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people, and after the crime was committed, the Soviet authorities tried to destroy everything that was connected with the Crimean Tatars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In addition to the names of settlements, the names of railway stations, sidings, streets and historical and cultural objects were changed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">First of all, the Soviet government, and today the Russian government, did this in order to destroy the culture, language and history of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine &#8211; the Crimean Tatars, Karaites and Krymchaks, as well as their connection with their native land. I would like to note that the Russian authorities tried to do this very quickly, and as a result, there are too many settlements in the Crimea with the same names: two Abr<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>kos<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>vka villages, two Aromatn<span lang=\"EN-US\">e<\/span>\u00a0villages, two Bere<span lang=\"EN-US\">hove\u00a0<\/span>villages, three\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">Blyzhnie<\/span>\u00a0villages, three Ves<span lang=\"EN-US\">ele<\/span>\u00a0villages\u00a0, three V<span lang=\"EN-US\">olodymyrivka\u00a0<\/span>villages , four\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">Ivanivka<\/span>\u00a0villages\u00a0, four Lu<span lang=\"EN-US\">hove<\/span>\u00a0villages. And this is not a complete list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Moreover, as we can see, these names were invented hastily and, of course, do not carry any historical value. In contrast, historical toponyms in Crimea contain the identity, culture and heritage of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Indeed, how can one compare such names as:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<span class=\"xfmc22 xfmc23 xfmc24 xfmc25 xfmc26 xfmc27 xfmc28 xfmc29 xfmc30 xfmc31 xfmc32 xfmc33 xfmc34 xfmc35 xfmc36\">Aqme\u00e7it<\/span>\u00a0and Simferopol,\u00a0\u00a0<span class=\"xfmc22 xfmc23 xfmc24 xfmc25 xfmc26 xfmc27 xfmc28 xfmc29 xfmc30 xfmc31 xfmc32 xfmc33 xfmc34 xfmc35 xfmc36\">Aqyar<\/span>\u00a0and Sevastopol,\u00a0\u00a0<span class=\"xfmc22 xfmc23 xfmc24 xfmc25 xfmc26 xfmc27 xfmc28 xfmc29 xfmc30 xfmc31 xfmc32 xfmc33 xfmc34 xfmc35 xfmc36\">\u0130\u00e7ki<\/span>\u00a0and Soviet<span lang=\"EN-US\">ske<\/span>, Ma\u00f1 Kermen and\u00a0 Lokhovka ?<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The de-occupation of Crimea will take place very soon, and it is important to work on the complete destruction of the Russian presence on the peninsula.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">We don&#8217;t need someone else!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the last three centuries, Crimea has experienced large-scale Russification and Sovietization, which is clearly reflected in the renaming of various geographical names.
