{"id":221749,"date":"2023-02-28T16:32:12","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T14:32:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.orgctrc-sent-a-report-to-the-un-on-the-importance-of-registering-victims-for-the-promotion-and-protection-of-human-rights"},"modified":"2023-03-06T16:48:49","modified_gmt":"2023-03-06T14:48:49","slug":"ctrc-sent-a-report-to-the-un-on-the-importance-of-registering-victims-for-the-promotion-and-protection-of-human-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ctrcenter.org\/en\/ctrc-sent-a-report-to-the-un-on-the-importance-of-registering-victims-for-the-promotion-and-protection-of-human-rights","title":{"rendered":"CTRC sent a report to the UN on the importance of registering victims for the promotion and protection of human rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"xfmc2\">The Crimean Tatar Resource Center sent a report to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the topic Importance of registering victims for the promotion and protection of human rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The report was made available for the creation of the thematic report of the High Commissioner to the Human Rights Council in accordance with resolution 50\/11.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The CTRC provided information that since its foundation in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2015\">2015<\/span>, the organization\u2019s experts have been monitoring and recording human rights violations in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea, and since February\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2022\">2022<\/span>, they have been recording war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Russian troops in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDue to the fact that the C<span lang=\"EN-US\">T<\/span>RC timely recorded and sent information to the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances, more than 60 people who were abducted in the new occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions during\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2022\">2022<\/span>\u00a0returned home alive or their whereabouts were found out\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\">,<\/span>\u2014 says the document.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">Considering that information and recording of the crimes of the Russian Federation is an important and key element in the process of establishing the truth and administration of justice, the CTRC has developed an electronic register of war crimes, crimes against humanity and human rights violations committed by Russia in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">A separate important aspect in recording crimes is to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and the fight against impunity. That is why the CTRC has been working since\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2018\">2018<\/span>\u00a0on the introduction of personal sanctions against persons responsible for human rights violations, similar to the Magnitsky Act.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u201cCTRC is convinced that bringing to justice the perpetrators of these terrible crimes is a reliable preventive mechanism to prevent their recurrence in the future.
