Cases of genocide have occurred throughout human history. Only on the territory of Ukraine over the past century, 3 such crimes have been committed: the Holodomor, the Holocaust, the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people. However, in the modern world, signs of genocide can also be traced in different countries, including the Russian-occupied Crimea, as well as other occupied territories of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people, which began back in 1944<\/span>, is a lengthy process. Representatives of the indigenous people are forced to leave their homeland because of their civic position and because of their inconvenience.<\/p>\n The Russian occupation of Crimea in 2014<\/span> and the systemic repressions that followed it, detentions, interrogations, searches and arrests, illegal transfer to Russian prisons, forced abductions and murders caused a new mass migration of the indigenous people, and in fact their hybrid deportation.<\/p>\n An active replacement of the population in the Crimea is being carried out.<\/p>\n The indigenous people are purposefully squeezed out of the peninsula as a population disloyal to Russia. The image of the enemy people is created for the Crimean Tatars, criminal proceedings are opened in the so-called Hizb-ut-Tahrir cases, people are accused of terrorism, possession of weapons, and calls for a coup d'état.<\/p>\n The 9th year of occupation has been going on and the number of victims of the occupying authorities on the peninsula is increasing. The FSB dungeons contain mainly Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians. According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, during the entire period of occupation, the number of political prisoners reached 266, 189 of which are representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.<\/p>\n The Crimean Tatar Resource Center is actively working with the countries of the world so that they recognize the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944<\/span> as a genocide. Today, besides Ukraine, 3 more countries have recognized the Deportation as an act of genocide (Lithuania, Latvia and Canada), work is underway with another 40 countries in this direction.<\/p>\n We call on the international community to increase pressure on the Russian Federation to end racial discrimination in the occupied Crimea, as well as in other occupied territories of Ukraine, and stop the long-term genocide of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.<\/p>\n The whole world should condemn the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944<\/span>, because, as we see, it was not condemned yesterday – it is repeated today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" On Thursday, December 9, the world community celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide, honoring their dignity and preventing this crime.
