The event was organized in conjunction with the visit to Ukraine of Mr. Florian Encke, NATO Political Affairs and Security Policy Officer, to evaluate the annual national program.<\/p>\n

Bariiev told the international community about the situation with human rights violations in the occupied Crimea, and also emphasized the importance of personal sanctions.<\/p>\n

\n

“The actions of the Russian Federation are criminal, politically motivated, and flagrantly violate international law. The most important tool for curbing the aggression of the Russian Federation and the ongoing repression are sanctions”,- Bariiev emphasized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That is why the experts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center have developed a list of 166 people who violate human rights in the occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n

\n

“I would like to note that the lists include judges, investigators, prosecutors, FSB officers and representatives of law enforcement agencies who are directly related to the violation of human rights in Crimea. We hope for an appropriate reaction from those countries that have laws analogous to the Magnitsky Act”,- added the Head of the Board of the CTRC.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Eskender Bariiev emphasized that for 2020 and 2021 the Russian Federation was actively making changes to its legislation. The Kremlin has systematically modified the criminal legislation in order to intensify repression against our compatriots. The Russian authorities supplemented Article 280 with a second part, which dealt with the prosecution for violation of the territorial integrity of Russia. Moreover, a new law on forced evacuation has appeared in the Russian Federation, which can contribute to the deportation of an inconvenient population, especially the Crimean Tatar people.<\/p>\n

The expert also drew attention to the fact that on July 21, 2021, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Law of Ukraine On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine initiated by him, which the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted on July 1, 2021.<\/p>\n

\n

“The Crimean Tatar Resource Center is actively working on this law in conjunction with the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience Olena Bohdan”,- he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In addition, the expert spoke about the environmental situation on the peninsula. Bariiev believes that Crimea will potentially always be considered as a zone for emergencies due to water problems, overpopulation of Crimea, the migration of Russian citizens and militarization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
