The participants of the meeting were the Ambassador of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas, Counselor of the Embassy Gedrius Granitskas, Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of Legal and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Eskender Bariiev, managers of the CTRC Zarema Bariieva and Liudmyla Korotkykh.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center informed the diplomats about the situation with human rights violations in the occupied Crimea, about political prisoners who disappeared and died during the occupation of the peninsula.<\/p>\n

The Head of the Board of the CTRC Eskender Bariiev spoke about the methodology developed by the organization for assessing the feasibility of introducing personal sanctions against persons cooperating with the occupation authorities. He emphasized that this technique can become an important tool for sanctions policy, both for the Ukrainian state authorities and for international partners.<\/p>\n

\n

“Until now, EU sanctions against Crimea have been applied only against persons involved in the violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, and not against those involved in human rights violations in the occupied peninsula. This means that judges, investigators, prosecutors, FSB officers and representatives of power structures remain unpunished”,- Bariiev emphasized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That is why the experts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center have developed a list of 166 people who violate human rights in the occupied Crimea. In addition, a classification of persons involved in the persecution of political prisoners, their relatives and Crimean activists was presented:<\/p>\n

1. FSB officers<\/p>\n

2. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs<\/p>\n

3. Employees of the prosecutor's office<\/p>\n

4. Judges<\/p>\n

5. Court clerks<\/p>\n

6. Experts \/ Doctors<\/p>\n

7. Employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service<\/p>\n

8. Lawyers by appointment<\/p>\n

9. Other officials (ministries, Ministry of Emergency Situations, etc.)<\/p>\n

The CTRC team provided the embassy with a list of 50 people involved in human rights violations in Crimea and called for assistance in imposing sanctions against them.<\/p>\n
