The searches were carried out at night, the lawyers were not allowed to the place of the searches, the attesting witnesses were brought by the security forces with them, such actions are a violation not only of international human rights standards, but also of the legislation of the Russian Federation, which it illegally extends to the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
After the so-called searches, all five Crimean Tatars were taken to an unknown destination in cars without numbers and identification marks. The whereabouts of the detainees were unknown for about a day.<\/p>\n
Eldar Odamanov and Shevket Useinov were charged under Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (Disobedience to a lawful order of a police officer or other official) and on September 6, 2021, was sentenced to 14 and 15 days of administrative arrest.<\/p>\n
Nariman Dzhelyalov was charged under Part 5 of Article 33 (Aiding crime) and Part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Committing an explosion, arson or other actions aimed at destroying or damaging enterprises, structures, transport infrastructure and vehicles, communications, life support facilities of the population in order to undermine the economic security and defense capability of the Russian Federation), Asan Akhtemov and Aziz Akhtemov – under Part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. On September 6, 2021, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for 2 months (until November 4, 2021) to Nariman Dzhelialov, Asan and Aziz Akhtemov. At the same time, Aziz Akhtemov was forced to refuse a lawyer by agreement, leaving only a lawyer by appointment.<\/p>\n
Also on September 4, 58 activists were detained, who gathered under the building of the Directorate of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and demanded to provide information about the place of stay of the detainees. With respect to 56 detainees, they drew up protocols on violation of Art. 20.6.1 Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (Failure to comply with the rules of conduct in an emergency or the threat of its occurrence). Another two detained Eskender Akhtemov – the father of Aziz Akhtemov and Arsen Akhtemov – the brother of Asan Akhtemov were charged under Art. 19.3 of the Administrative Code (Disobedience to a lawful order of a police officer). On September 6, 2021, Eskender Akhtemov was sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest, and Arsen Akhtemov was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest.<\/p>\n
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center strongly condemns these illegal actions of the Russian security forces. Such a policy of the Russian Federation is a demonstration of the struggle against the freedom of speech and political convictions of people in the occupied Crimea, as well as the continuation of the discriminatory policy of the occupation authorities in relation to the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.<\/p>\n
The Russian Federation illegally uses its legislation for political purposes, in particular, with the aim of suppressing the non-violent struggle of the Crimean Tatars, as well as persecuting members of the representative body of the indigenous people of Crimea – the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.<\/p>\n
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center demands the immediate release of all political prisoners arrested in the temporarily occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center asks the President of Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to impose sanctions against persons involved in detentions in Crimea on September 03 and 4, 2021.<\/p>\n
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center calls on the international community to increase pressure on the Russian Federation and the occupying authorities of Crimea in order to end political persecution, as well as apply personal sanctions against persons involved in human rights violations in the temporarily occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n

On Friday, September 3, Russian security forces searched the house of the Crimean Tatar Eldar Odamanov and the Crimean Tatar activist Asan Akhtemov in Simferopol.
