“In 2014, at the beginning of the occupation of Crimea, the total volume of water supply in Crimea was somewhere around one thousand hundred million cubic meters per year. Of these, only 155 million cubic meters per year are needed for household and utility needs. More than 500 million cubic meters were spent annually on irrigation, and about 400 million cubic meters – for the needs of the industry”,- said the expert.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Bariiev emphasized that in Crimea until 2014, a system of surface runoff reservoirs, canals, water pipelines was developed, which made it possible to move water resources across the peninsula without significant costs.<\/p>\n

The Head of the Board of the CTRC noted that the problem lies precisely in the irrational policy of the occupiers on the use of water resources.<\/p>\n

“We can safely say that today from 500 to 700 thousand Russians have already moved to Crimea. It is clear that they wash, they drink water, they use it in everyday life and, accordingly, this is a fairly large number of people. In addition, these are newly built objects, residential buildings, both in Simferopol and in Sevastopol, which also need to be provided with water.
