“Activism is a process of integrating immigrants into society. IDPs who come to new places are people with a “fresh look”, they are more attentive to some details, pay more attention to existing problems and find more non-standard ways to solve them”,- Bariiev said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The expert stressed that there is an understanding among the migrants that the occupation of Crimea and the war in Donbass will end if Ukrainian society becomes politically mature, more united. Therefore, the de-occupation of Crimea depends on the unity of mainland Ukrainians.<\/p>\n

Conflicts sometimes arise between communities and displaced activists. As the Head of the CTRC explained, the integration of a person into a new society is always a difficult process. Different communities have different mental characteristics, customs and traditions. Many residents of the cities where IDPs came were satisfied with the way of life and the life they lived all this time, and many IDPs are active people who begin to change the usual course of things, which is why a conflict flares up.<\/p>\n

“In order for the displaced persons and the communities to learn to live in harmony, a certain time must pass. To speed it up, displaced activists must show a positive result. When the society sees that the activities of an activist who came from the occupied territory are more beneficial, then the majority problems and conflict situations will disappear. Activists will find it easier to find common communication with the authorities, gain credibility and become leaders in their community”,- he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Eskender Bariiev, answering the question of how many people will return to Crimea, noted that for an effective de-occupation it is necessary that all migrants return to Crimea. After all, Crimeans have experience of living in Crimea, they know the specifics of the region in which they live. They know how to effectively conduct entrepreneurial and active social activities on the peninsula, they know the mentality of their fellow countrymen.<\/p>\n

“They, most likely, will also have to go through the process of reintegration into the Crimean society, because the Russian Federation has been holding the peninsula under its military control for 7 years. In addition, one should not forget that Russian influence extends to the psychology of the Crimean society. However, because of the above aspects, it will be easier. They will still be their own. They will easily integrate into society and bring to the peninsula, I would call it Ukrainian, pro-European thinking. And this will be the first message to the Crimeans who now live on the peninsula, before reintegration”,- expert said.<\/p>\n
