First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Chairwoman of the National Commission for UNESCO Emine Dzheppar reported on the further significant deterioration of the situation on the occupied peninsula in all spheres of the Organization's interest, including religious persecution of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the violation of the most basic human rights to freedom of the press and expression, the safety of journalists, access to education in their native language, and other violations of international law by the occupying authorities, in particular the Geneva Conventions.<\/p>\n

“The First Deputy Minister appealed to UNESCO and its partners with an appeal to continue effective monitoring of the situation in the occupied ARC, where the rights and freedoms, cultural heritage, and other values of UNESCO are under threat as a result of the actions of the occupation authorities.
