We remind that on November 23, 2017, Russian security forces detained a group of activists of the Crimean Tatar national movement – Bekir Dehermendzhi, Asan Chapukh, Ruslan Trubach, Kiazim Ametov and Vedzhie Kashka. The latter became ill, an ambulance was called for her. On the way to the hospital, 82-year-old Vedzhie Kashka died, while the other detainees were taken into custody and accused of allegedly extorting money from a Turkish citizen. During their detention, the individuals involved in the so-called Vedzhie Kashka case were repeatedly violated the right to a fair trial and the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.<\/p>\n
In October 2018, a so-called court in Crimea sent a defendant in the so-called case Asan Chapukh under house arrest.<\/p>\n
On January 24, 2019, the so-called Kyiv District Cour" of Simferopol changed the measure of restraint for the defendants in the so-called Vedzhie Kashka case Bekir Dehermendzhi, Kiazim Ametov and Ruslan Trubach to house arrest.<\/p>\n
On April 17, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol passed a verdict on the defendants in the so-called Vedzhie Kashka case. Bekir Dehermendzhi, Kiazim Ametov and Ruslan Trubach were sentenced to three years of probation with a probationary period of three years, Asan Chapukh was sentenced to three and a half years probation, also with a probationary period of three years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
On Wednesday, August 12, Asan Chapukh, a political prisoner involved in the so-called Vedzhie Kashka case, turned 67 years old. In the spring of 2019, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol sentenced him to three and a half years probation with a probationary period of three years. Prior to that, he and other individuals involved in the so-called case had been illegally detained for over a year.
