The wife of the political prisoner said that Rustem feels support from relatives, friends, and the entirenation, as people send him parcels and come to court hearings.<\/p>\n

"Here is Simferopol, he does not receive any letters as he did in Taganrog. Reasons are unknown, I asked him whether he received letters from guys, who I know for sure have sent, but he said ‘no’’, she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The wife noted that the conditions of detention were bad: unsanitary, cold water, cockroaches, bedbugs. The food is horrible, he only eats what we send him. In addition, the political prisoner suffers from very frequent severe headaches.<\/p>\n

On March 27, Russian security forces in occupied Crimea carried out mass searches in 26 Crimean Tatar households. The security forces plantedand then seized themselves literature from some activists. Besides books and brochures, people’s phones, tablets, laptops, and passports were confiscated. The security forces actedrudely – they have reportedly used physical force against detainees, did not bother to take their shoes off when entering houses. Lawyers who arrived at the site of the searches were not allowed to see the detained. As a result, 20 people were suspected of involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, which is banned in the Russian Federation. On March 28, three more Crimean Tatar activists were detained, in whose households searches were carried out in their absence. On March 27-28, the occupation court detained all 23 Crimean Tatar.
