“The spouse of the so-called first Simferopol group defendant Fera Abdullaeva received a notice dated March 16, 2020 about the arrival of Uzeir Abdullayev to the Salavat colony 16. A similar notice sent on the same day was received by Alima, the wife of Teymur Abdullayev. He was sentenced to serve his sentence delivered to Salavat colony 2”,- the report said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The notice states that the family will be notified of the time of arrival in advance, however, at the moment, there is quarantine in the territory of all penitentiary institutions. All meetings with relatives are prohibited in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in these institutions. Despite the ban on family visits, investigators and lawyers can go to detention centers, which does not exclude the risk of spreading the disease.<\/p>\n

Fera Abdullaeva said that she received the first letter from her husband from a colony in Salavat.<\/p>\n

“He described the conditions of detention as tolerable, there is a TV. He also said that when he will be taken to the camp, he should immediately be given the opportunity to make an official call home. In quarantine, Uzeir is expected to spend no more than two weeks. The letter is dated March 13, 2020. Uzeir arrived to the colony in the beginning of the month. According to the maximum deadlines, he should have already been provided with an option to call home, but he still hasn’t been able to exercise this right”,- explained Fera while describing the contents of the letter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We remind that on October 12, 2016, Russian security forces as a result of mass searches in the village of Strohonivka of Simferopol region detained five representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people – Uzeir Abdullaev, Teymur Abdullaev, Rustem Ismailov, Emil Dzhemadenov and Ayder Saledinov. They were accused of participating in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in the Russian Federation. They were charged with article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“organizing the activities of a terrorist organization and participating in it”).<\/p>\n

On June 18, 2019, the North Caucasian District Military Court of the Russian Federation sentenced individuals involved in the Simferopol “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”. Teymur Abdullaev was sentenced to 17 years in a maximum security penal colony with a probation of 1 year and 6 months, Rustem Ismailov – to 14 years, Uzeir Abdullaev – to 13 years, Ayder Saledinov and Emil Dzhemadenov – to 12 years.<\/p>\n

On December 24, 2019, the Supreme Court in Moscow reduced the terms of imprisonment of  the so-called Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendants by 6 months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
