“Today I asked the chairperson about the diet of our clients during the process. I reminded him that the matter regarding the meals they receive is not closed yet; he said they were given some kind of porridge and that did not violate their rights. Today they had again cookies covered with mold. We will raise this issue at the next meetings, because our clients are not satisfied with the food they receive. This violates their rights and religious sentiments," said Ayder Azamatov.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It is noted that through the whole trip from and back to the pre-trial detention center, the defendants are always hungry.<\/p>\n

Previously, on 11 October 2017 in Bakhchysarai, occupants held mass searches in six Crimean Tatar households – Marlen Asanov, Seyran Saliiev, Timur Ibrahimov, Memet Belyalov, Ernest Ametov, Server Zakiryaev. All were detained and charged with the article 205.5 Criminal Code of Russian Federation “participation in an organization that is recognized as terrorist by Russia legislature”.<\/p>\n

On 21 May 2018, in the occupied Crimea, Russian security forces conducted mass searches in the households of Crimean Solidarity activists, whereby two Crimean Tatars, Server Mustafayev and Edem Smailov, were detained. They are also charged with participation in “Hizb-ut-Tahrir” that is illegal in Russia.<\/p>\n

On December 14, 2018, Server Mustafayev was sent to a psychiatric clinic “for examination”. Mustafayev called his placement in a psychiatric hospital a "punitive psychiatry."<\/p>\n

In February 2019, Mustafayev was accused of spreading, studying and propagating extremist ideology.<\/p>\n

On September 12, 2019, eight defendants – Marlen Asanov, Seyran Saliiev, Timur Ibrahimov, Memet Belyalov, Ernest Ametov, Server Zakiryaev, Server Mustafayev, and Edem Smailov – were transported from Crimean to Rostov-on-Don. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
