During the indicated period, twenty-four people were sentenced to a term of imprisonment on criminal “charges”. Thirty-seven people (one in absence) were detained in custody. Besides this, all political prisoners under investigation in the occupied Crimea and on the territory of Russian Federation, were subjects to continuing detention.<\/p>\n

Here is the list of people sentenced to a term of imprisonment on criminal “charges” during the indicated period:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. defendants of “Tablighi Jamaat case” – Renat Suleimanov, Talyat Abdurakhmanov, Seyran Mustafayev, and Arsen Kubedinov (one defendant was sentenced to four years of imprisonment, three –  two years and six months on probation);<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Fevzi Sagandzhi (ten and a half years) convicted of “participation in the activities of illegal military formation on the territory of Ukraine”;<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. former Ukrainian military servant, Dmitry Dolgopolov (ten years) and his partner, Anna Sukhonosova (nine years) charged with the disclosure of national secrets;<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. defendants of “Ukrainian saboteurs case” – Vladimir Dudka and Oleksiy Bessarabov (each fourteen years);<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. 16-years old Abduraman Abduveliev (6 months) charged with the desecration of the Russian Federation flag;<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. defendants of “Vedzhie Kashka case” – Bekir Dehermendzhi, Ruslan Trubach, Kyazim Ametov, and Asan Chapukh (three defendants were sentenced to three years on probation, one – three years and six months);<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Maksim Sokurenko (six months in colony) for spilling paint on the monument for “polite people” in the downtown area in Simferopol;<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. left activist, Evgeniy Karakashev (six years) for public calls to terrorist activity in VKontacte chat;<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Edem Kadyrov (four years) for alleged participation in the voluntary Noman Çelebicihan battalion;<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Konstantin Davydenko (ten years and five months) for alleged espionage benefitting Kyiv;<\/span><\/li>\n
  11. activist, Valeriy Bolshakov (2 years and six months on probation) for  alleged public calls to extremist activity in VKontakte post;<\/span><\/li>\n
  12. defendants of Simferopol “Hizb-ut-Tahrir case” – Teymur Abdullaev, Rustem Ismailov, Uzeir Abdullaev, Aider Saledinov, and Emil Dzhemadinov (from twelve to seventeen years).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. “ex-president” of Crimea, Yurii Meshkov (two days) for alleged insubordination to police;<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. journalist, Yevhenii Haivoronsky (twice – twelve and ten days) for an alleged substance misuse without doctor’s prescription and for the rejection to do the health screening during the detention;<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Crimean Tatar activist, Eskender Mamutov (5 days) for an alleged “petty crime”;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Over the course of the first six months of 2019, in the occupied Crimea there were registered seventy-three searches, fifty-five of which were conducted in the houses of the Crimean Tatars.         The new report on human rights violations in Crimea released by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center concludes that over the course of the first six months of 2019, in the occupied Crimea, there were registered two hundred cases of arrests, one hundred thirty-eight of which targeted the representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. Among these two hundred cases, sixty-seven are new cases that include imposed sentences; one hundred thirty-three cases are continuing detention. The number of arrests increased from ninety-seven to one hundred and three in the second quarter of this year compared to the first one.
