More than 600,000 Russians moved to Crimea in 8 years - Bariiev

5 September 2022

The Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, the head of the department for legal issues and foreign affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Eskender Bariiev, in an interview with Kyiv TV channel, reminded of such a problem as population replacement in occupied Crimea.

"From 600,000 to one million Russians moved to Crimea during the 8 years of occupation. First of all, military personnel were sent there. Indeed, the military personnel in Crimea increased 3-4 times, and their relatives, civil servants, employees of the FSB and other special services moved to the peninsula",- he explained.

Bariiev noted that these people were sure that Crimea would not return to Ukraine and that the “valiant” Russian army would protect them.

"The occupiers specially carried out large-scale construction. They promoted mortgages. They purposefully did everything to populate Crimea with their own people",- the expert emphasized.

Friends, what do you think should be done with Russians who illegally moved to Crimea after the occupation?
