It all started with the Crimea - Korotkykh

3 May 2022

Many believe that at present Crimea has been bypassed by the war and the peninsula is a calm place. However, the manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Liudmyla Korotkykh, in an interview with UA SOUTH dispelled this myth and spoke about systemic persecution in the occupied Crimea.

“We should not forget that it all started with the Crimea. And for 9 years we have been forced to record numerous violations of human rights and, in particular, the rights of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people. Today in Crimea, pressure continues on people who constantly took an active civic stand and did not hide their opinion”,- Korotkykh explained.

The representative of the CTRC noted that criminal prosecution of those who are involved in the so-called banned organizations in the Russian Federation continues on the peninsula: Hizb ut-Tahrir, Noman Çelebicihan Battalion. They continue to issue sentences, issue warnings to activists.
