Position of Ukrainian delegation on Crimea is unacceptable – Bariiev

April 5, 2022

Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, head of the Department of Legal and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev, in an interview with Radio NV, said that the position of the Ukrainian delegation on discussing the issue of Crimea for 15 years is unacceptable.

“The position that the Ukrainian delegation has already demonstrated, I think, is unacceptable. I wrote and spoke about this in mid-March, that for the Russian Federation the main and first task was and is the supply of water to the Crimea and the provision of a land corridor, which they fulfilled for themselves. And not so much the Donbas, and not so much the Luhansk and Donetsk regions”,- he said.

Bariiev said he was receiving phone calls from people in Crimea and mainland Ukraine who were concerned about claims of 15 years for talks on Crimea, calling it treason.

“I explain to people that there is a decision of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people of March 18, which clearly states that the position of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, that a complete victory will be considered only when the borders of Ukraine are restored within the internationally recognized borders of 1991, which should include and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and the city of Sevastopol, and the Donetsk and Luhansk regions”,- Bariiev said.

The expert added that 15 years is a whole generation, in 15 years there will be no one to return.
