No need to compare the Crimean Platform and the UN - Bariiev

28 September 2021

Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of Legal  and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Eskender Bariiev, said on the air of the ATR TV channel that there is no need to compare the Crimean Platform and the UN, since the UN will never deal with the issues of de-occupation.

“There is no need to compare the Crimean Platform and the UN, since the UN will never deal with the issues of de-occupation. Some experts say that the UN will start working on the Crimean Platform. This will not happen, because the Crimean Platform is a platform for the allies to conduct de-occupation in a non-violent way. There will be a UN reaction in the form of a resolution, but it is not worth expecting that the UN will make a decision and immediately punish the Russian Federation”,- Bariiev believes.

The expert noted that the next step after the summit could conditionally be the parliamentary assembly of the Crimean Platform at the level of the MPs of the countries participating in the platform. This requires the desire of the MPs themselves.

“Our task is to draw the attention of Ukrainian politicians and international partners to the fact that the Crimean Platform can be an effective tool. We need to unite efforts and move on to concrete actions”,- he added.
