#LIBERATECRIMEA: FSB declared war on Mejlis (issue 63)

21 September 2021

FSB has declared war on Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people

Occupants continue repressions against Crimean Tatars

New facts of torture

We'll talk about this in the 63rd issue of the #LiberateCrimea blog.

The occupants still cannot calm down after the last searches on September 3-4, when they detained three Crimean Tatars: Nariman Dzhelialov and cousins Aziz and Asan Akhtemov.

Undoubtedly, these arrests are directly related to the Crimean Platform Summit. While Ukraine was preparing for the summit, in the Russian Federation, during 2020-2021, they actively made changes and additions to the legislation of the Russian Federation, including the Criminal Code. To intensify repression on the one hand and prohibit people from even doubting that Crimea is not Russian.

What happened on September 3-4 was a prearranged operation by the FSB to punish those who took part in the work of the Crimean platform.

At the same time, the FSB begins to show on all channels of the Russian Federation a blockbuster about the confessions of the so-called saboteurs.

There is a message from the FSB that the Federal Security Service, as part of the investigation of a criminal case against three Russian citizens involved in sabotage on a gas pipeline near the settlement of Perevalne of the Republic of Crimea, received information about the connection of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People organization, banned in Russia, with the special services of Ukraine. That military intelligence through the Mejlis was preparing protest actions of the Crimean Tatars in Crimea.

In fact, the memories of that night will forever remain in the memory of the detained Crimean Tatars.

“They took me into a room, put me on a chair facing the back of the chair, tied my legs to the legs of the chair with tape, and tied my hands to the back with tape. When they were leading me, these people constantly threatened me that weapons and drugs would be planted on me, they said that my wife was beautiful and hinted that they could also harm her”,- Asan Akhtemov said.

It is difficult to talk about this, and even more difficult to survive this.

So. Why all this farce? What are the reasons? What are the occupants trying to achieve?

Thus, the occupants are trying to kill several birds with one stone:

Completely discredit the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people - the representative-executive body of the indigenous people of Crimea, calling it a group of Mejlis, a terrorist organization both among the Crimean Tatar people, Crimeans, and the international community.

Revenge for the Crimean Platform, which declared a non-violent struggle for the de-occupation of Crimea, thereby demonstrating the connection between the special services of Ukraine and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people in alleged subversive operations in the occupied Crimea, simulating a gas pipeline explosion.

Testing the strength of the Crimean Platform itself, what it is capable of, how in practice it will be able to react to provocations.

And, of course, the persecution of Crimean Tatar activists at all levels. They will initiate criminal cases against supporters of the Mejlis, and in 2014 there were about 2.5 thousand people, following the example of the so-called cases of Hizb ut-Tahrir.
