29 June 2021

The manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Liudmyla Korotkykh said that the Council of Europe once again showed its consistent position on the occupation of Crimea by adopting a resolution on the rights of Crimean Tatars on the peninsula. The expert stressed that this document obliges the CE itself to act in accordance with the principles specified in the resolution.

“This resolution is very important within the framework of the work, the struggle that is being carried out not only by civil society, but also by the state of Ukraine at the international level. Special thanks to our delegation, which treated this issue very professionally. They were open and turned to civil society for help, in particular to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center. Since we are an organization that systematically deals with the rights of indigenous peoples and based on the fact that the resolution concerned mainly the rights of the Crimean Tatar people, we cooperated. The delegation asked to provide visual materials (booklets, albums)”,- she said.

Liudmyla Korotkykh stressed that this document once again shows the coherent position of the Council of Europe on the issue of Crimea and human rights. In addition, this document obliges the CE itself to act in accordance with the principles specified in the resolution.
