Occupants continue repressive actions against the indigenous people of Crimea - Bariiev

Head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Eskender Bariiev, in an interview with UA: Crimea TV channel, commented on the situation with human rights violations in the occupied Crimea, stating that the Russian Federation continues its repressive actions against the indigenous people of Crimea and pro-Ukrainian activists.

During an interview, the Head of the Board of the CTRC presented an analysis of human rights violations in the occupied Crimea for the first quarter of 2021. He said that according to the organization, during the reporting period, Russian security forces conducted 22 searches, 146 arrests / detentions and 23 interrogations, innterviews and conversations. The total number of arrests in the first three months of this year is 45: 10 - new arrests, 16 - prolongations of detention, 19 - sentences. There were 113 cases of violation of the right to a fair trial, 51 - to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health. Also, 33 cases of transferrings of political prisoners of Crimea were recorded.

“In the near future we will translate this analysis into English and send it to the embassies so that the international community is informed about what is happening over this period in the occupied Crimea. After all, the occupants continue repressive actions against the indigenous people of Crimea and pro-Ukrainian activists”,- he noted.
