A rally dedicated to the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of Crimea was held in Melitopol

On Friday, February 26, a rally was held in Melitopol to mark the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of Crimea. The activists unfurled the posters developed by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center and #LIBERATECRIMEA within the framework of the campaign Does it hurt?, MP, help the Crimean  political  prisoners! Also, the protesters were holding portraits of political prisoners, dead and missing people in Crimea.

“Crimea has become a precedent in modern world history. In post-war Europe, this is probably the only case when, in peacetime, one state occupied and annexed part of the territory of another independent state, thereby violating all existing international and intergovernmental agreements. The cost of returning the Ukrainian Crimea is very high. These are, first of all, human destinies. Therefore, one should not forget that the struggle for Crimea and the protection of its inhabitants is a matter of honor for every Ukrainian. Crimea is Ukraine!” – said the Deputy Mayor Mykhailo Semykyn.

The organizers of the action were: the Department of Culture and Youth of the Melitopol City Council, the Committee for Assistance to the Return of Crimean Tatars to their historical homeland Azat, MPs of the city, district, region, as well as #LIBERATECRIMEA activists.

We remind that the Does it hurt? campaign aims to remind the Ukrainian and international community about the occupation of Crimea, about the violation of human rights on the peninsula, about the systemic repressions of the Russian Federation against the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar peoples, and about the fact that after seven years we still have pain. Despite such a long period of time, every Ukrainian, every Crimean Tatar, every caring person hurts for the fate of the peninsula and for the Crimeans who suffered at the hands of the occupants.
