Systemic family persecution arises in the occupied Crimea – Bariiev

January 14, 2021

The Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Eskender Bariiev, on the air of the UA:Crimea TV channel, commenting on the sentences to the defendants in the so-called Bilohirsk Hizb ut-Tahrir case and the son-in-law of one of them.

“We see tendencies to the fact that systemic family persecution is already emerging. If we take the Omerov family, then we are talking about Enver Omerov, his son Riza and his son-in-law. Father, brother and husband were taken away from Fatma Omerova. This concerns the entire people, and we can see similar things within other so-called cases”,- he explained.

Bariiev also stressed that none of the political prisoners was found to have weapons, explosives, or any evidence of terrorist activity. At the heart of the so-called case is supposedly reasoning on religious and political topics. At the same time, the occupants actively use wiretapping: they listen to what is happening in mosques, houses and interfere with people's personal lives.

“Enver Omerov in his last word clearly indicated that even the investigator who fabricated this case against hime actually apologized to him and I think that a person like Enver Omerov will not lie”,- the expert added.
