CTRC calls to join the “Unutylmagan kabirler” campaign aimed at collecting information about the burial places of Crimean Tatars in places of deportation
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center launched the campaign “Unutylmagan kabirler”, aimed at collecting and systematizing information about the burial sites of our ancestors in the places of deportation. Eskender Bariiev, The Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, urges Crimean Tatars to join this campaign and provide information about the burial places of their ancestors at the places of deportation.
As a result of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944, tens of thousands of our compatriots died, and to this day rest in a foreign land. This tragedy affected every Crimean Tatar family. Who are these people? Where are their graves? In what condition are they? Do their descendants born in Crimea know about this? What is their number? To answer all these questions, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center calls on the descendants of the deported Crimean Tatars with a request to provide information about the burial places of their ancestors in the places of deportation.
To do this, we ask you to fill out the Google form before April 5, 2020, or send the following information to the CTRC email address (email@example.com): last name, first name, middle name, year and place of birth, place of burial (city) and the number of the grave, in what year, and at what age your relative was buried, what condition the grave is in, a photo of the grave (if any).
This information will be systematized and transferred to the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which, as part of the preparation of the report on “Repatriation of ceremonial objects and human remains in accordance with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples”, asks all interested parties to provide information. This report will be presented at the 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council in September 2020.
Our duty to future generations is to collect, organize and transmit this information to our descendants so that every Crimean Tatar knows where his ancestors rest!
