On the eve of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center launches a test developed as part of the #LIBERATECRIMEA information campaign. Every Ukrainian will be able to test one’s knowledge about this day by answering 10 questions.

“International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples as an instrument for protection the rights of indigenous peoples”(video)

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center with the support of the Open Society Foundation held an international expert online discussion on the topic “International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples as an instrument for protection the rights of indigenous peoples ”. At the event, representatives of the world's indigenous peoples spoke out in support of the Crimean Tatar people and stated the importance of consolidating and using UN mechanisms to realize their rights. Ukrainian experts stressed the need for legal regulation of the status of indigenous peoples in Ukraine.

CTRC submitted proposals to the National Human Rights Strategy in the direction of Ensuring the rights of indigenous peoples and national minorities

On Monday, June 15, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev and the CTRC manager Liudmyla Korotkykh took part in a meeting (via videoconference) of the thematic group to develop a draft Decree of the President of Ukraine On Amendments to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 25 August 2015 No. 501/2015 On the approval of the National Strategy for Human Rights. Representatives of the CTRC made a number of proposals in the direction of Ensuring the rights of indigenous peoples and national minorities.

The CTRC sent EMRIP materials on the burial of Crimean Tatars in places of deportation

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center sent to the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) materials on the burial of Crimean Tatars in places of deportation, which will be used in the preparation of a report “Repatriation of ceremonial objects and human remains under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

CTRC informed the OSCE SMM about the natural rights of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center received a response from the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine to a letter reminding that the Mejlis, in its statement dated November 17, 2019, confirms the natural rights of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people on the occupied peninsula. The SMM, in turn, thanked the CTRC for drawing attention to this issue.

At the meeting, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis Eskender Bariiev said that in the near future the CTRC and the Mejlis will present a draft national action plan for the protection of indigenous peoples of Ukraine to the President of Ukraine.

In Kyiv, recommendations have been developed in the field of implementation of the collective rights of indigenous peoples in Ukraine

On Wednesday, December 11, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center and the Pylyp Orlyk Institute for Democracy organized a workshop "How to ensure the realization of the rights of indigenous peoples in Ukraine?" within the framework of the National Human Rights Non-Conference. The participants of the event developed recommendations in the field of implementation of the collective rights of indigenous peoples in Ukraine.
