Analysis of human rights violations in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia Regions (presentation)

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center presents an analysis of human rights violations in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions as of May 31, 2022. According to the organization, during the full-scale war, 147 arrests, 21 searches, 7 arrests, 21 murders were recorded. In the report, we also drew attention to such cases as: interrogations and torture, illegal appointment of the occupying authorities, violation of the right to peaceful assembly and identified other offenses.

CTRC submitted proposals to the National Human Rights Strategy in the direction of Ensuring the rights of indigenous peoples and national minorities

On Monday, June 15, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev and the CTRC manager Liudmyla Korotkykh took part in a meeting (via videoconference) of the thematic group to develop a draft Decree of the President of Ukraine On Amendments to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 25 August 2015 No. 501/2015 On the approval of the National Strategy for Human Rights. Representatives of the CTRC made a number of proposals in the direction of Ensuring the rights of indigenous peoples and national minorities.

2020 breaks records in the number of сetacean stranding in Crimea - Serene Sea

For 5.5 months of the current year, 416 marine mammalian stranding on the coast of the peninsula were recorded in the occupied Crimea. For comparison, for the whole of 2019 (from January to December), beaching of 468 marine mammals were recorded. This was reported by the Center for the Study, Rescue and Rehabilitation of Marine Mammals Tranquil Sea.

The CTRC sent EMRIP materials on the burial of Crimean Tatars in places of deportation

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center sent to the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) materials on the burial of Crimean Tatars in places of deportation, which will be used in the preparation of a report “Repatriation of ceremonial objects and human remains under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Five families of victims of repression in occupied Crimea will receive assistance

Nadezhda and Valery Ivannikov, representatives of the Association of Ukrainians of Ireland, transferred 2,000 euros to the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev that will be distributed among five families of victims of repression in the occupied Crimea. Each family identified by the Association of Ukrainians of Ireland will receive 400 euros. The donation was collected during the event “Enduring Ukraine: the price of freedom”, organized by the Association of Ukrainians of Ireland in February 2020.

The second charity music festival “Songs for Freedom” in support of the children of political prisoners of Crimea took place in Kyiv

On Thursday, February 27, the second annual music festival “Songs for Freedom” in support of the children of political prisoners of Crimea was held in Kyiv's Monte Ray concert hall. Young Ukrainian artists performed at the event and performed original songs and covers of popular compositions about freedom. All the organizers represented by the Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine and the Crimean Tatar Resource Center will donate the proceeds from the event to the children of political prisoners of Crimea.

Day of Crimean Resistance: activists put forward 6 demands to Russia

On Wednesday, February 26, in Kyiv, in front of the embassy of the Russian Federation, the international movement #LIBERATECRIMEA, Capitulation Resistance Movement, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people held a rally “6 years of the occupation of Crimea - 6 demands to the aggressor”, dedicated to the Day of Crimean Resistance. The international campaign “No Normandy without Crimea”, dedicated to the sixth anniversary of the occupation of Crimea consists of three stages: 1) 6 demands to the aggressor - the Russian Federation in February, started with this event 2) 6 requirements to the authorities of Ukraine in mid-March; 3) 6 requirements to the international community at the end of March.
