On Wednesday, May 18, an international mourning online rally dedicated to the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people was held. The broadcast of the rally was watched all over the world, and representatives of the Seimas of Latvia, the President of Turkey, the Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, as well as activists, politicians, diplomats and representatives of the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian diasporas from around the world joined to show solidarity with the Crimean Tatars.
“78 years ago, on May 18, 1944, the communist regime of the former USSR committed a crime against humanity, which was aimed at the destruction of the Crimean Tatar people, the indigenous people of Crimea. During the total deportation from their homeland and due to inhumane conditions in the places of exile, the Crimean Tatar people lost 46.0% of their population”,- Eskender Bariiev, Head of the Board of the CTRC, began the online rally.
Bariiev called on the whole world to honor the memory of the victims of the deportation of the indigenous people of Crimea, to express their solidarity with those who remain in the occupied Crimea and with the soldiers who are fighting at the front for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.

- note the firmness and indestructibility of the Crimean political prisoners;
- express gratitude and respect to the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- are proud of the courage and readiness for self-sacrifice of the inhabitants of Crimea - military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and fighters of territorial defense units;
- note the importance of the role of volunteers, civil society activists, journalists in the consolidation of Ukrainian society.
