On Thursday, March 11, during a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna, the Deputy Head of the US Mission to the OSCE Courtney Austrian stated that Russia is falsely seeking to portray the entire Crimean Tatar community as terrorists and called on the Russian Federation to release all political prisoners of the Kremlin.
“Russia falsely seeks to portray the entire Crimean Tatar community as terrorists. Human rights activist Emir-Husein Kuku is just one of dozens of Crimean Tatar activists imprisoned on terrorism charges for alleged membership in the Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir”,- the report said.
Austrian once again emphasized that Crimea is Ukraine, and called on Russia to release all political prisoners of the Kremlin, as well as to end the occupation of Crimea and withdraw its troops and military equipment from the east of Ukraine.
In addition, the US representative recalled the anniversary of the abduction of the Crimean Tatar activist Reshat Ametov. She asked the international community: When will the occupying authorities bring to justice those responsible for this and other unsolved cases of extrajudicial executions and enforced disappearances?
