State Duma MP Andrei Kozenko has already reacted to the UK’s decision on sanctions against Crimea, saying that this action is an indirect recognition of the peninsula as part of Russia. According to him, London has shown that the sanctions are exclusively political manipulations. This was reported by the Russian media agency TASS.
“On the one hand, the economic consequences of the pandemic significantly reduce the degree of foreign policy pressure, giving way to common sense and the need to combine efforts against the background of the fight against coronavirus. On the other hand, this decision is undoubtedly recognition, albeit indirectly, of Crimea as part of Russia”,- he said.
According to Kozenko, Great Britain has shown that the sanctions"are exclusively political manipulations that have nothing to do with reality.
“Thus, it turns out that Britain, like other European countries, is signing sanctions with one hand, refusing to recognize Crimea as Russian, and with the other hand agreeing on economic relations with the republic. This policy can hardly be called sincere, but it gives hope that the step is step common sense and rational decisions will become ubiquitous”,- the MP added.
We remind that the UK made some changes to the sanctions that were introduced after the annexation of Crimea. Now British ships were allowed to pay for services to the Kerch, Yalta and Evpatoria ports. As British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons said, these actions are not weakening sanctions against the Russian Federation.
