10 January 2019

Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova appealed to Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova and Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights Mikhail Fedotov to take urgent measures to ensure proper medical assistance to the figurant of the “Vedzhie Kashka” case, who is being held in the Simferopol detention center. Corresponding appeals Denisova published on her Facebook page.

"Kyazim Amietov’s daughter reported that he had constant attacks of asphyxiation, high blood pressure and sick kidneys. At the same time, he does not receive proper medical care. His relatives are ready to send him all the necessary medicines to make him feel better", - Denisova wrote.

According to the Ukrainian Ombudsman, since October last year, she has repeatedly appealed to the Russian side, but has not received any responses.

On January 9, a lawyer Emil Kurbedinov stated that in the Simferopol detention center the state of health condition of the figurant of the  “Vedzhie Kashka” case, Kyazim Amietov, continues to deteriorate. According to the lawyer, his client gets worse with each “court session”.

Earlier, Kyazim Amietov’s daughter, Nadzhie Amietova, noted that her father’s condition had deteriorated due to the conditions in the detention center. The girl wrote that her father had sore kidneys and legs. She also appealed to the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova to help the figurants of the case and  earlier arrested Edem Bekirov.

On November 23, 2017, the Russian security officers detained a group of activists of the Crimean Tatar national movement - Bekir Dehermendzhi, Asan Chapukh, Ruslan Trubach, Kyazim Amietov and Vedzhie Kashka. The last detainee felt bad, she was called an ambulance.  On the way to the hospital,  the 82-year-old Vedzhie Kashka passed away. The rest were taken into custody and allegedly accused of extorting money from a Turkish citizen.

While staying in custody the right to a fair trial, the highest attainable level of physical and mental health of the figurants of the "Vedzhie Kashka's" case was repeatedly violated. On December 4, 2018, the Kiev district "court" of Simferopol extended  the detention  period to  the figurants of "Vedzhie Kashka" case - Bekir Dehermendzhi, Asan Chapukh (under home arrest), Ruslan Trubach, Kyazim Amietov.

On January 9, 2019,the consideration of the "Vedzhie Kashka" case in Kiev district "court" was planned, but the meeting was rescheduled to January 24 at 2:00 p.m. The reason was the hospitalization of one of the defendants in the case, Asan Chapukh, to the city hospital No. 6 in Simferopol.
